Breast Cancer Care’s VeloCITY 2016 – the results are in!

Wednesday and Thursday this week saw us launch Breast Cancer Care’s new charity event VeloCITY, an office-based cycling race for leading financial services firms in London. This follows Breast Cancer Care’s highly successful legal cycling race, Tour de Law, which takes place every Autumn, which we also support.

The event attracted top financial services firms, including teams from PricewaterhouseCoopers, PKF Littlejohn and Brooks Macdonald. Teams from each firm raced against each other over the equivalent distance of London to Zurich (1000km) on static exercise bikes supplied by Wattbike. With three weeks to go before the fundraising deadline, the event has already raised a total of £8,225 to help Breast Cancer Care support the thousands of women and men affected by breast cancer.

An average of more than 80 employees from each firm took part in the race, in 15-minute relay slots over the two days. Results were displayed live on screens at the firms, and on the event website. The fastest three firms to complete the 1000km distance were as follows:

First – Brooks Mcdonald

Second – PKF Littlejohn

Third – Pricewaterhouse Coopers

Calum Roscow, the event organiser at Breast Cancer Care said:

“It’s been a fantastic two days. Considering this was a pilot first year, it’s been such a success. Some of the firms have already told us they want to do it again next year and have asked some of their competitors to join. After the success of Tour de Law, which Maltin PR also promotes, we thought there would be an appetite for this kind of team building event in the finance sector, so it’s great to see that there really is. And of course we’ve raised a tremendous amount of money for Breast Cancer Care.”
