Leading legal and litigation PR agency Maltin PR today announces the appointment of former BBC legal affairs correspondent Clive Coleman as a consultant.
Over the course of 16 years at the BBC, Clive has reported on a vast range of domestic and international legal stories and issues including 2019’s momentous Supreme Court prorogation case, Brexit, the growing courts backlog, the Barclay brothers ‘Ritz’ dispute, the VW emissions scandal, phone hacking, Sir Cliff Richard v BBC, and the Hillsborough tragedy inquests.
Clive broke many stories and secured exclusive interviews, including with Lady Hale on her departure from the Supreme Court, Lord Reed on his appointment as President of the Supreme Court, John Crilly, the ex-offender who fought the London Bridge attacker Usman Khan, and many more.
Prior to becoming the BBC’s legal affairs correspondent, Clive was the presenter of Radio 4’s flagship legal analysis programme, ‘Law In Action’, and presented a raft of BBC programmes including Panorama ‘The Death of Kiss and Tell’, on the rise of privacy protection under the Human Rights Act. His time in journalism has given him comprehensive knowledge of the media landscape, and a privileged insight into the justice system and the legal profession.
At Maltin PR, Clive will be working with the team to advise clients on a range of specialist legal PR, litigation PR and broadcast matters, including media training. He will also assist with business development and broadcast opportunities, tapping into his extensive network built up over the course of his 34 year career in law, as a practicing barrister, and in the media with the BBC.
Commenting on his appointment, Clive said: “I am delighted to be taking up a consultancy role with the award-winning team at Maltin PR. I hope that my years in broadcast and print media will add to the already considerable expertise the firm offers its raft of clients.”
“I have always believed those in the fast moving world of the law and legal services need clear, informed and insightful PR advice, and effective communications strategies. I am really looking forward to working with Tim and the team at Maltin PR.”
Maltin PR specialises in raising the profiles of international, full-service, and boutique law firms. The agency is also retained on a number of national and international, high-profile, complex litigation support campaigns. Recent examples include a £200m litigation against one of the largest banks in the world, the repatriation of funds in a $300m international fraud, and a politically charged litigation over the return of $1bn in gold.
Maltin PR Founder and Chief Executive, Tim Maltin, commented: “I have known Clive for some years and am delighted that he has agreed to join our team as a consultant. His media training is inspiring and his knowledge of how fast-moving legal stories play out in broadcast media is an invaluable asset to the Firm. Clive’s qualifications as a barrister and broadcaster, as well as a legal news expert, make him the perfect fit for Maltin.”
Maltin PR now comprises a team of 20 legal PR, litigation support and law firm design experts, based at its Covent Garden offices.
