Lucy Letby’s barrister hands fresh evidence reports to CCRC
Thank you to all the press who yesterday attended the CCRC where Mark McDonald handed in his final reports that “totally undermine” the case against Lucy Letby.
Mark hand-delivered a new 86 page Joint Expert Witness Report on Babies F and L, compiled by seven of the world’s leading experts in immunoassays, insulin and C-peptide testing, paediatric endocrinology and hyperinsulinism.

The report undermines the validity of the assertions made about the insulin and C-peptide testing presented to the Court in Letby’s trial. These new experts unanimously agree that the jury was misled as to the following:
- Medical and evidential facts
- Testing
- Background error rate
- Quality Control testing
- Abnormal results
- Reference ranges not applicable in small preterm infants
- Testing did not meet acceptable forensic standards
Commenting on the evidence he provided to the CCRC, Mark said:
“Lucy Letby is currently serving 15 whole life terms in prison, when overwhelming independent expert evidence indicates that no babies were murdered.”
Mark also handed in the full 698 page report by a separate team of 14 leading international neonatal experts, led by Dr Shoo Lee. This report concludes that “there was no medical evidence to support malfeasance causing death or injury in any of the 17 cases in the trial.”
We are grateful for all those that attended yesterday for what may be a pivotal moment for the criminal justice system.
Mark McDonald and Maltin PR are acting pro bono for Lucy Letby.
