Alastair Mitchell

Directories Associate

Alastair helps our clients to save time and improve their results in legal directories and awards.

He brings specialist expertise to drafting and reviewing submissions, managing the referee processes, coaching interviewees and auditing firms’ approaches.

Alastair has 15 years of experience in the legal sector – half at the Directories, and half at law firms. At Chambers & Partners he researched major sections across the UK, USA, Asia-Pacific, Global, and Europe guides, for four years. He then set up the directory research function for the IAM Patent 1000 and WTR 1000 Guides, running them for three years.

His inhouse roles include directories and awards executive at Bird & Bird; pitch executive at Baker Botts; and business development manager at Slaughter and May, Clifford Chance and Macfarlanes. In these posts Alastair delivered directories training and coaching to partners and BD teams in the UK and across Europe.

His recent work as a directories consultant and outsourcing provider includes large scale audit and review projects, and helping boutique, City and U.S. firms to optimise their submissions across many practice areas.

Alastair has a first-class degree in English Literature from the University of Sussex. Away from submissions and referees, he enjoys family time and music.
