Prior to joining Maltin, Siân was a newspaper and agency journalist for nearly 20 years, 15 of which were spent reporting from courts.
Siân has extensive experience in reporting on high profile litigation and rapidly identifying key points of media interest from court documents and proceedings.
As the Law Editor at PA Media – formerly the Press Association – she reported on some of the most high profile cases of recent years, including Sir Cliff Richard’s privacy case against the BBC, Johnny Depp’s libel claim against the publisher of The Sun and Gina Miller’s case against the Government over the prorogation of Parliament.
Siân has a deep understanding of how to optimally present cases in the media within the complex rules of court reporting, and is well-placed to liaise with journalists over coverage of complex legal matters.
She is also co-author of McNae’s Essential Law for Journalists, known by those in the industry as “the bible”, and a member of the National Council For the Training of Journalists media law exam board.
Siân also sits on the HM Courts and Tribunal Service media working group, advising courts on engagement with the media, and is a member of the Transparency Implementation Group responsible for driving increased openness in the family justice system.
In her spare time, Siân is passionate about music and a keen violinist, who has performed with various London-based orchestras at some of the city’s most prestigious music venues, including the Royal Festival Hall and the Barbican.
