Tim Maltin comments on Prince Harry’s Phone Hacking Case on BBC News
Our Managing Partner Tim Maltin quoted on Prince Harry’s courtroom appearance on BBC News.
Tim commented on the risks Prince Harry faces when giving evidence and undergoing cross-examination in his case against Mirror Group Newspapers . The prince alleges three MGM titles engaged in phone hacking and other illegal practices to obtain private information which was then used in articles about him.
Tim noted: “This isn’t like taking questions from Oprah Winfrey in a celebrity interview,”
“It is a hostile encounter with a highly-skilled cross-examiner armed with a battery of techniques to undermine your credibility.
Tim concluded: “Giving evidence is daunting… and cross-examination is far more often traumatic than cathartic.”
Tim’s comments were published in BBC News on Sunday 4 June 2023, here, and were further covered in BBC News’ live analysis of Prince Harry’s phone hacking case, on Tuesday 6 June, here.
