Tim Maltin speaks on PR as a tool in asset recovery at IFG Flagship Fraud Conference

Our Managing Partner Tim Maltin recently spoke at the International Fraud Group Flagship Fraud Conference, hosted by Mishcon de Reya on 21 November 2024.

Tim spoke at the session entitled ‘PR as a tool in Asset Recovery’. The panel was led by Gary Miller, partner at Mishcon de Reya and chairman of IFG. Participants included Tim Maltin, Managing Partner of Maltin PR, Thomas Eymond-Laritaz, CEO of Highgate, and Alexandra Whiston-Dew, partner at Mishcon de Reya.

Tim gave examples of where PR has assisted in asset recovery, one involving a publicly traded oil company, and one involving the enforcement of a debt following judgment in the High Court.

Other sessions discussed Section 1782 and asset recovery, the power of liquidators, and group claims. The conference was bookended by insightful keynote speeches from Tyler Hodgson, Senior Investigator and International Team Lead at the World Bank, and Tom Hayes, the first trader convicted in the UK over Libor manipulation, who is battling to clear his name.

Tom spoke about the assistance that Maltin PR has provided him in his fight for justice, and spoke about his hopes for the Supreme Court hearing in March.

Tom’s speech covered from learning about his being charged from the news, as well as anecdotes from his time in prison, to the present day. His speech received a warm standing ovation.

The event brought together experts from across the international asset recovery world, including international lawyers, PRs, forensic accountants, investigators, restructuring and insolvency experts.
