Maltin PR shortlisted for reputation management campaign at the PRWeek UK Awards 2026
We are delighted to be shortlisted in the Issues and Reputation Management category at the PRWeek UK Awards 2026 for our work representing former derivatives trader Tom Hayes. The nomination recognises our communications campaign supporting the successful overturning of Tom’s wrongful LIBOR conviction before the Supreme Court, as well as our ongoing work supporting his claim against UBS.

Working alongside Tom’s legal team, led by Karen Todner, we developed and implemented a long-term communications and reputation management strategy surrounding the appeal process. This included extensive media engagement before, during and after the Supreme Court hearing, helping to explain the legal issues involved and ensuring accurate reporting of a case that attracted significant international attention.
In July 2025, the Supreme Court unanimously quashed Tom’s conviction, finding that the jury had been misdirected at the original trial. The Court held that the judge had wrongly directed the jury that taking any account of commercial interest automatically made a LIBOR submission dishonest as a matter of law, when whether a submission was a genuine assessment of the bank’s borrowing rate was a question of fact for the jury; it concluded that this misdirection had undermined the fairness of Tom’s trial.
Following the judgment, our work has continued as Tom pursues civil proceedings against UBS, in which he alleges the bank was responsible for wrongfully procuring his prosecution, and seeks compensation for the harm that followed. We continue to advise on strategic communications surrounding the litigation and wider reputation management.
The PRWeek UK Awards recognise excellence across the communications industry, celebrating campaigns that have delivered exceptional strategic and reputational outcomes for clients.
We are proud that our work for Tom Hayes has been recognised alongside some of the UK’s leading communications campaigns. The shortlisting reflects the value of combining litigation communications with long-term reputation management in complex, high-profile legal disputes.
